The question before us is, “Is it possible to live out and speak the truth so that any offense taken is limited to the offense of the cross?” We believe that the answer to that is yes, and we’re learning from Jesus how to do it in his encounters with all sorts of people.
We’re working through the book Learning Evangelism from Jesus by Jerram Barrs. Each chapter discusses a different conversation. Each conversation is the subject of a sermon to learn what’s in the text, followed by a Sunday school class where we learn lessons for evangelism from Jesus.
As Professor Barrs writes in the introduction, “As we study each story, we will seek to discover some of the principles present both in Jesus’ life and in his words that shape the way he meets and talks with people, and we will seek to draw some lessons for our own lives and for the communication of the gospel.”
Why don’t you come and hear what Jesus has to teach us?
Drinks and snacks in the fellowship hall from about 9:15.
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that
you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Colossians 4:5-6
